Soccer picks Expected: Abraham with long sentence for the attack on Straich

Eintracht (Frankfurt) captain David Abraham will not play in the remaining Bundesliga matches by goldsoccertips until the end of the year. The Argentine defender has been sentenced to seven weeks and has also been fined 25, 000 euros after he slammed Freiburg coach Christian Straich with his shoulder last Sunday and sent him directly to the ground.

Abraham is not the only one sanctioned after Sunday`s meeting. Freiburg`s Italian midfielder Vincenzo Grifo, who also received a direct red card, will not be able to play in the next three games of his team. He was replaced in the 57th minute, but took part in the melee created by Abraham`s expulsion as he caught his opponent by the face.

Frankfurt will likely appeal the length of Abraham`s sanction, which should miss the visits of Mainz 05, Schalke 04, and Paderborn, as well as the households of Wolfsburg, Herta (Berlin) and Cologne. The 33-year-old central defender has been playing at Commerzbank Arena since 2015.
